After 5 Years of Vegas Hotels, This CEO Finally Found a Place He Didn't Want to Leave

An entrepreneur who has attended CES for many years first came to Las Vegas in 2019.

At the time, his business was just getting started. He was building a cross-border e-commerce company, and attending the Consumer Electronics Show each year was an essential part of his business.

On his first trip, he stayed at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas. The second time, he chose Wynn Las Vegas. The third, ARIA Resort & Casino.

They were all exceptional hotels. But one thing he said has stayed with me ever since:

“Staying at a hotel in Las Vegas is like eating at a highway rest stop. It fills a need, but once you're done, all you want to do is leave.”

Last autumn, he returned to Las Vegas with a 16-person team for an exhibition.

Just three days before departure, their original resort unexpectedly cancelled the reservation. While searching Airbnb for alternatives, he came across O&O Oasis Oakey Mansion. The first thing that caught his eye was the waterfall pool.

“This doesn’t look like Las Vegas. This looks like Hawaii.”

With the mindset of simply giving it a try, he made the reservation.

Unexpectedly, that one decision became the reason he has continued to choose it every time he returns to Las Vegas.

I. The Moment They Opened the Door, Everyone Went Silent

He said that by the time they arrived, night had already fallen.

The moment they stepped through the front door, the soaring 30-foot-plus ceiling seemed to open up above them, instantly drawing every eye upward and pulling everyone into the space.

Warm golden light filtered through the stained-glass arch windows, spilling across the patterned marble floor. Roman columns stretched along both sides of the corridor, leading deep into the mansion, as though they had stepped onto the set of a classic Italian film.

“One of our colleagues is usually a pretty quiet person,” he recalled. “He stood in the middle of the living room, looking up for a long time, and then suddenly said:

‘This house has more culture than my own home.’”

Everyone burst into laughter.

But he said that, in that moment, what he truly felt was not simply luxury.

The word itself seemed too small to describe the experience.

What he felt was a sense of being genuinely cared for .

Every detail, from the architectural moldings along the walls to the thoughtfully placed lighting beside the windows, seemed to convey the same message:

Someone had truly poured thought and care into this place.

II. The Kitchen Is the Heart of the Mansion

There was a hidden “chef” on his team—a young colleague who worked in supply chain management but happened to be an exceptional cook.

That evening, everyone had planned to order takeout.

But the moment he stepped into the kitchen and looked around, he changed his mind.

Six cooking stations, two large ovens, and two kitchen islands nearly three meters long.

He said:

“Wait here. I’m going to the supermarket and buy some ingredients.”

An hour later, the kitchen was filled with the aroma of garlic and butter.

Someone was slicing fruit beside the island. Someone else was mixing drinks at the bar. Others sat in the breakfast area, scrolling through their phones as they waited for dinner.

“That feeling was amazing,” he said.

“It wasn’t like everyone was simply being ‘served.’ It felt like we were actually ‘living together.’”

That night, more than twenty dishes covered the dining table.

Gathered around the elegant dining table, the conversation drifted from work to life, from life to dreams, and continued well past midnight.

“You simply don't have moments like that in a hotel.”

III. The Afternoon by the Pool Became the Team’s “Ice-Breaking Moment”

The next day, they deliberately left the schedule open.

He had one rule for every team retreat:

On the first day, nothing was planned.

Everyone was simply given time to relax.

The backyard of O&O, Oasis Oakey Mansion naturally became the perfect “ice-breaking space.”

Some jumped into the entertainment pool and raced down the waterfall slide, sending water flying everywhere.

Others relaxed in the spa pool, drinks in hand from the poolside bar, closing their eyes beneath the warm sunshine.

A few stretched out on the lounge chairs by the pool. They opened a book, read a few pages, and before long had drifted off to sleep.

Under the Hawaiian-style palm pavilion, several colleagues began sharing stories about their lives before entering the industry—stories he had never heard during countless days in the office.

“Usually everyone is busy. Meetings are about business, meals are about partnerships. But that afternoon, sitting in that garden, nobody wanted to talk about work.

Somehow, just by chatting, the team's chemistry began to emerge naturally.”

As the sun began to set, they gathered around the outdoor kitchen and BBQ area.

The aroma of steak, corn, and grilled skewers filled the entire backyard.

Golden evening light spread across the surface of the pool, while the shadows of the palm trees grew longer and longer.

He said that moment reminded him of a sentence:

“The best team building is not about suffering together, but about enjoying together.”

IV. The Unexpected Moment in the Karaoke Room

That night, someone suggested heading to the karaoke room.

He admitted that he wasn't particularly interested at first because he had never considered himself much of a singer.

But once everyone pulled him inside, he realized it was nothing like he had imagined.

The room was exceptionally well soundproofed. The lighting could be adjusted to suit the mood, and the audio system rivaled many professional karaoke venues.

What impressed him most was the design. Once the door was closed, those inside could sing as loudly as they liked, while everyone outside could continue talking, relaxing, and enjoying their drinks without interruption.

“Our quietest colleague from the finance team actually grabbed the microphone and sang three songs,” he recalled with a laugh.

“The next day, she told me she was surprised by herself.”

Later, they learned that the karaoke room had been added during the mansion's renovation.

Previous guests had shared the same feedback:

When people travel together, they need a place where they can truly unwind and be themselves after a long day.

So the TotalMax team listened — and actually built it.

“That was the moment I realized they really do listen to their guests,” he said.

“It wasn't the kind of polite line that says, ‘We value your feedback.’ They actually made changes based on what their guests needed.”

V. Business or Vacation? You Don’t Have to Choose

On the third day, they scheduled a half-day business meeting.

For years, one of his biggest frustrations had been holding meetings in hotels.

Either they had to rent a conference room, which was expensive and often felt cold and impersonal;

or they had to squeeze into a hotel suite, where the atmosphere was more relaxed but the space was never quite enough.

At O&O Oasis Oakey Mansion, that problem simply disappeared.

The meeting room offered more than enough space for ten people to sit comfortably and work together.

A projector, whiteboard, and high-speed internet were already in place—everything they needed was ready to use.

During breaks, everyone would wander over to the central bar, make a cup of coffee, cut some fruit, chat for a few minutes, and then naturally return to the meeting.

“The efficiency was incredible,” he said.

“Because everyone was already staying together. There was no need to schedule extra time or travel from one place to another.

You wake up together. You have breakfast together. Then the meeting begins.

When it's over, you can walk straight to the pool and unwind.

Business and vacation don’t have to be two separate choices.”

He even calculated the costs:

Renting a hotel meeting room, booking separate rooms for the entire team, paying for meals, and covering transportation would actually have cost more than staying at O&O Oasis Oakey Mansion.

“And besides, you would never get that feeling of being like ‘one family.’”

VI. After That, Every Time He Came to Las Vegas, He Stayed Here

After that experience, O&O Oasis Oakey Mansion became his first choice every time he returned to Las Vegas.

He stayed there when attending CES.

He stayed there when bringing clients for business visits.

He stayed there when his family came for vacation.

He even recommended the mansion to his business partners.

On one occasion, two company teams stayed there together. By day, they discussed potential partnerships beside the pool. By night, they gathered around the dining table to share a meal.

A relationship that might normally have taken six months to build came together in just three days.

“This place has a kind of magic,” he said.

“It makes you want to put down your phone, have a few more conversations, and stay a little longer.”

Final Thoughts

Many people ask me:

“Where should I stay when I visit Las Vegas?”

In the past, I would recommend a few well-known hotels.

Today, I ask:

Are you traveling alone, or are you traveling with a group?

If you're traveling as a group—whether for a family gathering, a company retreat, or a business reception—my answer is always the same:

Choose O&O, Oasis Oakey Mansion.

Not simply because it has a spectacular pool, a professional-grade kitchen, or spacious accommodations.

But because it transforms people who might simply be “staying together” into people who are truly “living together.”

Finding an oasis in the desert is already a luxury.

Finding a mansion within that oasis—a place that holds stories, laughter, and meaningful connections is even rarer.

O&O, Oasis Oakey Mansion is exactly that kind of place.
